benefiting the Suicide Prevention Center at United Health Services

The idea for a community event to raise awareness about suicide was started by the Krueger family to honor the life of Elaine Krueger. The original Stayin' Afloat event in downtown South Bend became what is now Race to Save Lives.  All proceeds support the Suicide Prevention Center at United Health Services and its programs to prevent suicide in our community and the surrounding areas.

Race to Save Lives is a 5k & 10k chip timed on certified courses in near-by Mishawaka at the Saint Joseph Health System. Medals are awarded three deep in each age group with trophies for the top male and female in both the 5k & 10k. A 3K Walk for Hope for those non-runners.

Hey Runners!
Race to Save Lives is part of the Michiana Runners Association (MRA) Race Circuit for 2016.  The MRA is a nonprofit running club with a goal of improving the local running experience by uniting runners, races, and the communities of Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan. For more information on the MRA Race Circuit, email:  information@michianarunner.org

Did you know our courses are USATF Certified?  The 5K & 10K courses are out and back starting from the hospital campus and continuing into parts of Mishawaka.  The 10K route winds through the Winding Brook neighborhood, a popular spot for other local runs! This course is fast and flat and a great opportunity to get a new personal best!
